Being a seasoned photographer I’ll defend to the death the need to have quality photos of your memories.

These days, the most convenient form of photography comes from your smartphone but it’s often not the best quality. And if you own an SLR with a full glass lense kit you’ll understand why there is a need for a compromise.

I wanted a camera that was pocket sized, takes reasonable quality, wider angled photos than my Galaxy S7 edge, records HD video and uses AA batteries. Admittedly, it’s not so great in low light conditions or indoors without a flash but it’s great for outdoor landscapes, people, HD quality videos with good sound quality, and has a great colour palette.

I don’t want to have to fumble around with batteries and chargers, especially for such a small camera. In my experience these accessories often get lost and then you have to deal with the stress and expense of having them replaced when you get home plus the added inconvenience of not having the use of your camera for the remainder of your holiday.

This is one of the last remaining compact cameras that still uses AA batteries. Now, no matter where I am in Europe, I’ll never run out of juice as these batteries are available everywhere and I can continue to capture my holiday.

Nikon A10, £60 at Curry’s with free delivery. I bought a 32Gb Class 10 SD card from Argos for about £10-15.
