What is it with all these big-name producers namedropping Coachella in their new singles? First Matoma teamed with Magic! and D.R.A.M. for the excrebale “Girl At Coachella,” and now Cashmere Cat has a song called “9 (After Coachella)” with MØ and SOPHIE. I guess they must believe it’s good marketing?
Fortunately, this latest festival-citing electronic track is miles ahead of the last one in terms of quality and taste. It’s a spacious neon trap-pop production that eventually works up to a clanking, clattering instrumental, toggling back and forth between the two modes and somehow making them feel like they belong in the same song.
